LEAF HOUSE
Leaf House has been designed in the shape of a leaf, as if one had fallen on the house and protected its inhabitants. It is a combination of an accomplished technical design with a soft and natural shape. Built to passive principles, this house draws its energy from the south side via a conservatory. The falling profile of the roof protects the building from overheating from the south and from cooling from the north. The design of the structure is based on the requirements of the client, using a combination of wood and masonry interior walls, making full use of thermal storage capacity. The facade employs cedar siding. In order to maintain the thermo-technical parameters of a passive house, special triple–glazed units had to be developed, and a heat recovery system used in the heating cycle. Given the unusual form of the roof the site plan had to be modified.
